Thirty Magazine number one

Thirty is a new experimental publishing project from The MVA’s Kimberlee Whaley. For the first issue, four visual artists—graphic designer Erin Hauber, painter Jeremy Miranda, photographer Gene Pittman and MVA partner J. Namdev Hardisty—were asked to shoot at least one photo a day for the month of October 2008. The final results were sequenced by Kim with only a concern for flow and finding relationships in each artists selection of images. Then second issue is currently in the works with two artists completing a similar project right now (January 2010).

Originally conceived as a print product Thirty number one was finished as the economy said ”good-bye” so we decided to look at the various means that would allow us to distribute it without overhead and arrived at Issuu. Issuu is a digital “marketplace” (its free) for sharing PDF's and allows them to be embedded like a YouTube video. We’re excited by the idea of the magazine having no single home but instead be capable of being spread by anyone whose interested in it.

To embed Thirty on your blog or website or share it with someone, click the “Menu” button that appears upon when you mouse over the cover.
