The Haunted Basement was an annual tradition in the Twin Cities. This 18+ event took place in the sprawling basement of the Soap Factory, a 19th century factory that frankly still looked like a 19th century factory.
This commemorative poster plays off of one of the “scenes” that visitors experience: small groups are split up to walk solo down 4 separate pitch-black hallways. What they don’t know is that the walls are fabric and soon actors start to push and grab at them. We created a rendition of this horrifying idea by printing 2 life-size hands pressing against the poster in a combination of black inks and varnishes on black paper.
The typography is influenced by hospital and institutional signage and 1970’s horror movie posters.
