We never planned to make a poster for IMPETUS—a 3-day festival of local and emerging dance. It’s just the postcards we designed came in and I said to Kim, “We seriously need a big version of this in the living room.” Then Tim Cronin, the designer of the card, sent me an email saying “I feel like we should make a poster of this.” Then Ben Heywood, Executive Director of The Soap Factory said, “Print 50 of ’em” (actually, that’s a lie. Ben typed his response and he doesn’t type things like “’em.” Apologies.).
18 x 24” 2-color screenprint on French 100# coverstock. Signed and numbered edition of 50.
It’s seriously a beautiful poster. The image depicts an abstracted arm musculature inspired by Irene Dowd’s book on movement Taking Root To Fly coupled with a simple typographic structure. You should frame this. No binder clips and thumb tacks this time, OK?
The IMPETUS poster continues our trend of being one of the best things we’ve ever designed and we’re excited that we can offer a very limited number of signed prints to sell.
